Trauma Therapy In New Jersey

Compassionate, Evidence-Based Support for Healing

Heal from the Past with Trauma Therapy in New Jersey

Experiencing trauma can have a lasting impact on your emotions, relationships, and sense of safety. Whether you've lived through childhood abuse, a car accident, sexual assault, or emotional neglect, trauma may shape how you experience the world today often in ways that feel overwhelming or difficult to explain.

At JLE Psychological Services, Dr. Jessica Elliott provides trauma therapy in New Jersey to help clients process past experiences, regain emotional control, and reconnect with their inner strength. Therapy is a safe space where healing is possible and where you don’t have to face your trauma alone.

What is Trauma Therapy?

Trauma therapy focuses on helping individuals process the emotional and psychological effects of traumatic experiences. Trauma doesn’t always come from one event — it can result from ongoing emotional abuse, neglect, loss, or repeated exposure to distressing situations. Dr. Elliott works with clients who have experienced:

  • Childhood trauma or neglect

  • Physical or emotional abuse

  • Sexual trauma

  • Domestic violence

  • Medical trauma or chronic illness

  • Accidents or natural disasters

  • PTSD related to past experiences

  • Complex trauma or developmental trauma

Through trauma therapy, clients learn to identify triggers, manage emotional responses, and begin to build safety and trust — within themselves and in their relationships.

How Dr. Elliott Approaches Trauma Therapy

Dr. Elliott uses a trauma-informed, client-centered approach that prioritizes emotional safety, trust, and empowerment. She works collaboratively with each client to create a pace and structure that feels manageable and supportive. She draws from several evidence-based modalities, including:

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

  • Humanistic Therapy

  • Mindfulness-Based Practices

  • Emotion Regulation and Grounding Techniques

Her approach is compassionate and flexible — always grounded in respect for your lived experience. Sessions are tailored to help you better understand your emotional responses, reduce distressing symptoms, and develop tools to move forward with confidence.

Who Can Benefit from Trauma Therapy?

You may benefit from trauma therapy if you are experiencing:

Flashbacks or intrusive memories

  • Difficulty trusting others

  • Emotional numbness or disconnection

  • Sudden anger, fear, or shame

  • Avoidance of people, places, or reminders of the trauma

  • Sleep issues, anxiety, or depression related to past events

  • Feeling "stuck" in the past or unable to move forward

Dr. Elliott works with adults and adolescents affected by both recent and long-standing trauma. You don’t need a formal diagnosis of PTSD to seek support — anyone carrying emotional pain from past experiences deserves space to heal.
